8 Middle Easterners in Henderson KY Jail - Witnesses

Under a heavy veil of secrecy and security, eight Evansville men of Middle Eastern descent appeared in federal court Friday on warrants alleging they are witnesses in a grand jury investigation in Alexandria, Va.

Officials in U.S. District Court in Evansville and attorneys called in to represent the men were extremely tight-lipped about the nature of the case.

Don't know...all I know is that one owns a restaurant in Evansville, IN - or did - and has been accused of a number of things throughout the years.

Hate to assume anything...you know, we have to be careful not to offend anyone, but I'm sorta thinkin that that may be what the situation is. Let's please not make the mistake that because they are from the Middle East that this has anything at all to do with that particular incident.

Of course, if they were almost anything else, one surely wouldn't make such a connection.

Right. That keeps us from making hasty arrests of persons who just so happen to be from the Middle East. They were probably just singled out. You know how the US loves to profile. /sarcasm

Probably another "cell" operating independently from the ones rounded up in this area.

I believe the raid here was just a shakedown to let the buggers know that they are being watched and to check to see that their immigration papers were in order, since they let them all go.

They need to keep watching them, though. (I know - I'm a bigot.)
