Our fight isn't with hungry children.

"How do we know that the money will actually go to the families and children in Afghanistan? The money might go to the military there to buy more weapons," said 10-year-old Ramery DeLuna, a sixth-grader at PS 20."

Where do you think little "Ramery" heard that?Mommy and Daddy or the Liberal NYC 6th grade teacher?

The biggest lesson is for OUR children. It involves them, and helps temper the lessons of the self indulgent life style so prevalent here in the USA.

That there is even such an article in the newspaper means somebody didn't listen to President Bush. I thought his idea for a children to children fund, complete with the American children earning the money, and the President's admission that it would supplant with reality a dream political initiative of his, is among the finest moments of a man that has brought many lately. One in three children an orphan ? 100% with chronic malnutrition ? Truly, this is the Lord's work. All of my young children will be heavily involved in this.

You really must be kidding, right ? President Bush puts his personal name on a kid-to-kid charity drive and your questioning whether the money will be spent properly ? People are entitled to think what they like about the President, but questioning his integrity is beyond the pale, he seems to have almost redefined the good and decent man. I was not his biggest fan in the past, but he has proven himself a role model, someone for kids to look up to. I have not a shred of doubt that the money will be spent for EXACTLY what he said it would be. Not a shred.

The point "is" President Bush,a superb leader is attempting to instill in americas children all the things the previous administration attempted to irradicate.A sence of caring, giving and sacrifice vs gimmie, gimmie, what about me, touchy feely PC flawed mind set.

I hope the schools keep this voluntary. The best thing the kids can learn from this is that we, as Americans, have the right to disagree.

What part of The Presidents request included schools? It was directed to the individual child and did not include the parent or guardian.

It is a kid thing "No Adults Allowed"

What part of The Presidents request included schools?

I was referring to the article:

Similar debates were being held in classrooms and at dinner tables across the city.
Schools that had launched fund drives to help victims of the World Trade Center attacks weighed this latest request.
"When we've raised that money, we'll take up money for the children in Afghanistan," said Gloria Mendez, assistant principal at St. Paul Community Christian School in East New York, Brooklyn.

That's all :)

I agree with what he is doing. I just hope when the money gets over there, it gets to the right people that's all.

Where do you think little "Ramery" heard that?Mommy and Daddy or the Liberal NYC 6th grade teacher?

And I'd lay a bet that the same liberal Mommy and Daddy and teacher think it's unconscionable that we still have economic sanctions against Iraq. Because the idea came from Pres. Bush, the liberals are going to hate it--no other reason than that.

"They can't help where they live."

I'm reminded of an old Sam Kinison routine........

The way I feel is that being charitable has it's own rewards for the giver. If you see a man on the street asking for a dollar he may need it because he's wants to buy a beer or he may need it because he's one dollar short of having a place to stay over night. I have encountered both. If we have good intentions I believe we will be blessed for it.

You're so right, this is an idea which will allow our children to be involved in helping others less fortunate then themselves.

My daughter is only 8 months old, but her mother had a great idea after listening to President Bush's speech. We printed out some pictures of Rachel and I took them to work where my co-workers donated a dollar for a picture. Rachel can now send $10 to the President and we'll do our best to document the event so she can learn about how she was able to help even though she was too young to understand.

Where did you get the idea that our kids will be sending money to the Afan. kids through the Red Cross? The Red Cross will be sending food-stuffs, plus the 320 million in aid from our government. There are no 7-11's for them to buy over there.
