Ok, Sacramento Freepers, give us some feedback on this.

KSFO, San Francisco, just carried this story!

If they were in Folsom Lake, and they had intended something bad, the water supply would be a potential target!

If they were below the dam, the dam itself and the hydro electric system could have been a target.

If they were illegal fishers, my bet is legal or illegals from SE Asia. These people since they came over after the fall of South Viet Nam, have been openingly violating many fish and game laws. The PC Fish and Game Managers and local judges have kept the Fish and Game Wardens from doing their jobs. The warders would arrest them for very serious violations. The left wing extremist judges and their buddies the ACLUers would get the cases thrown out of court inspite of tremendous evidence of poaching and killing fish or game out of season!

I will post a followup here to show the change in Fish and Game post 9/11!

Affecting the water supply is doubtful simply based on the volume of water and the requiet amount of chemical/biological it would take to contaminate......truckloads...

An attack on the power grid is possible with a relative small amount of explosives.....

Most likely, illegal fishermen.....

Ex Sacramento type here. I recall people camping overnight all along the river during striper and salmon season. They wanted the best 2 square foot spot to stand in when the opening whistle blew at sunrise.

Without more information, this really isn't "unusual".

Fish & Game Wardens Take On Anti-Terrorist Duties Wardens Using M-14 Assault Rifles Posted: 10:29 p.m. PDT October 10, 2001 Updated: 11:02 p.m. PDT October 10, 2001

EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Fish and Game wardens have traded in their usual waterway duties to help in the safeguarding of the state's waterways.

Wardens are joining forces with the Coast Guard.

"We're all in kind of strange times. It's a new role for us, but we're glad to participate. We want to keep these ports open and free," State Fish and Game spokesman Frank Spear said.

Wardens normally carry side arms, but now they are also carrying M-14 assault rifles on their shoulders, emphasizing that their newly expanded role is not one that is out of their league or training.

You sure it wasn't a couple of whitewater rafting guides washing down out of the South Fork of the American River?

They've been terrorizing up-stream property owners since the mid-1970's!!!

Something is happening in Miami. I am listening to the Miami police scanner at policescanner.com. They just dispatch a whole bunch of units to the same location. Also, one of the officers requested that Dispatch contact the Division of Emergency Management. He told the dispatcher that EOC wanted to be notified in situations like this but he didn't specify. It didn't sound like it was a huge emergency. I will keep listening. Any Miami Freepers hear anything?

...and the two "suspicious characters" had 150 tanker trucks of poison concealed in their pup tents...

First they came after pilots, now fishermen. Recreational boaters are next. Certainly the feds have read Hayduke Lives!, where a houseboat full of am-pho was used in an attempt to blow up Glen Canyon dam.

Just listened to KCRA's story about this incident (at 8:03am). They didn't add one iota of extra information about it . . . I hate political correctness.

Dams are great fishing places. Probably looking for something to but on the barbie for the weekend. This will probably be the worst fishing trip these guys ever had. Talk about geeting skunked.

They will not prosecute in Minnesota either. A Hmoung was caught with 300 trout in his trunk and fined only $50. Licenses are not checked nor are limits.

I know this isn't a fishing thread, but I wanted to confirm your post. This has been a problem in the South Bay as well. At Calero Reservoir, these people have been known to use very long, illegal bamboo poles to catch and keep fish that are undersized and contaminated with ostensibly dangerous levels of mercury. This despite signs posted everywhere.
