Someone asked, "How long will it last?" And President Bush said, "As long as it takes.". I love this guy!! His eyes were steeley, and man oh man, he was soooo comfortable in front of these vultures. He seemed to command their respect tonight...well, all except Helen, an unrepentant Clinton enabler.
President Bush wasn't posturing for the camera. He listened to the questions, really listened, and actually answered them, with genuine feeling and true emotion. My goodness...think of it. When he said, "I will stay the course", we could believe it. This president is not a liar.
And the hoot of the night....When ABC's Anne Compton asked her bimbo question, "Well, you keep asking the American people to be alert, what should we be alert to?". President Bush's response made a monkey outta that dame!!! I loved it!!!!
Truth to tell, I don't think he intended to make her look like an idiot...she just asked for it. His other unintentional slam was for Bill Clinton. When President Bush was asked about meeting with Palestinian leaders, he said I haven't had time for "empty photo ops that make empty promises". hee hee..
I was very impressed with the poetry of President Bush's answers. He said, "there's been a change in our country....a compassion that's overflowing.." He said, "these evil ones have highjacked a religion to justify their evil deeds. "
I think it was CBS's reporter who asked what kind of sacrifices the American people were called upon to make, and President Bush answered it beautifully. He said, " there is a sacrifice when you lose a piece of your soul."
And then...the end, when President Bush fully showed us how genuine his compassionate conservatism philosophy truely is, how he not only preaches it, he lives it. His idea to let American children EARN money to share with Afgan children was fabulous.
Besides helping the Afgan children, he spoke directly to our nation's children, let them know they could do something important. ....it was most impressive. Our friend, SuzanneC said of this, "Bill Clinton is probably pouting in front of his television because he didn't think of it."
President Bush's first prime time press conference = A +
