American Storm Shelter is listed as a vendor in the Dallas Area. The Tornado Project page has an info page, but when I clicked the link to "American Storm Shelter", it was dead. That may be temporary, but I'll see if I can find a contact page somewhere...

I believe there is one in Jerrolds, Texas. The company was started there after the F-5 went through the city. They make some pretty substantial bomb/tornado shelters.

If you are in the city of Dallas, where would you put it? I am out here in etx, and there are some old storm cellars around. I would think if you know what you want any reliable contractor could build it for you. Incidently, my kids are in Dallas, do you know something the rest of us dont?

Wow...that is some shelter. If I could afford it I would buy it, and use it as storage when there is no danger.

Any competent builder should be able to arrange this in your area. Needs the hole dug, some welding, etc. If you are handy you could do a lot of the work yourself, too.

You found the company that I was thinking of. Jerrell, Texas suffered an F-5 and the survivors went together and began to build their own storm shelters. They are made to withstand an F-5. These folks are serious. I understand that the founding members of this company redesigned the shelters after several other company's shelters failed the people that were in them during the F-5.

I passed by Jerrell within minutes of the Tornado. Hell of a storm! I think your are mistaken about other shelters failing. As I recall the only survivors were a family who was safely tucked away in their shelter.

Gonna get mighty stuffy in there. I did not see any provision for a ventilation system.

There was a large culvert pipe across a road up here that collapsed and cut off the road this year. A couple semi trucks went in the creek. If you want to use this ribbed and rolled steel, try to find a way to brace it internally so it doesn't give way. A couple stout 10 X 10 posts every few feet and a heavy beam the length of the ceiling at least, like mineshaft reinforcement. All the culvert pipe will do is keep loose gravel from getting in your breakfast Wheaties.
