Hitler invaded Poland because he wanted a an overland link to Prussia. Stalin was posed to invade Germany one month after Hitler beat him to the punch. Stalin's forces were not in defensive positions and so were easily surrounded and cut off.

Try to get some other sourses than your HS text books.

Baloney, Stalin was in no position to invade Germany or anyone else.  Russia was so weak, tiny Finland kicked their butts.  Besides, there was the August, 1939 non-agression pact -- remember that one?  And it carried a secret addendum that allowed for Stalin and Hitler to divide Poland once Hitler had invaded.  That's what happened according to my HS history books -- and every other historian known to man.
