Ed, Ed, Ed...I'm thinking this might not be the best time to be funnin' in an airliner. These days the passengers wouldn't even be sorry after they throttle you...

Does anyone know what the penalty is for this type of incident? I assume he will be charged with a felony.
I have a proposal: Require that each one of these morons reimburse the taxpayers for the jet fuel the F16s require, the salary of the pilot(s) and the depreciation on the jet.

A-10? Must be running low on fighters... Can you name any commercial airliner that can withstand about 5 seconds of a Warthog's Gatling Gun? Two seconds?

That was my first thought when I read this. There are some Reserve A-10's at Barksdale, right across the river.
That thing had to be going full throttle just to keep up with the Delta on final.
Intercepted by an A-10 - what infamy. ;)

I think we're being tested for weak spots. Even with the anthrax threats. We'll see. These guys are persistant -- if at first you don't succeed...the story of WTF 9/11.

Does anyone know what the penalty is for this type of incident? If I'm on the plane when it happens...you get a 6'3" 200-pound ex-jarhead doing Riverdance on your face with his Size 12 combat boots. Nothing personal, just business :o)

Hey boy an A-10 can bust anythin' up real durn good. Watched one "perform" at an airshow in Chattanooga once-seemed like it produced firey explosions wth at least a dozen different means. It would make quick work of an airplane, though I wonder if it could do a good job of interception?

With the nut cases and these Saudi guys trying to open a window- there seems to be a need for a sanity test and a test to see if passengers can speak english. If they can't they are a hazard to other passengers in an emergency. Sounds like they were in an exit row- how could that happen anyway?

I have no doubts about the ability of an A-10 to do some serious damage. Those 30mm rounds it carries are the size of a milk bottle and tipped with depleted uranium.
That said, they are slow as dogs in the air. It would have trouble intercepting a taxiing Cessna.

With the nut cases and these Saudi guys trying to open a window- Ya, I saw that too. AS far as I know there are no windows that passengers may open on american airliners. Who is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the american sheeple. The terrorist or our government. What were they really trying to open and escape hatch?

There are mesh screens covering the exhaust of A-10s. This prevents seagulls from accidentally entering the engine during flight.
To: Dan Day
Oops -- probably both -- it's been a long day. WTC -- !!!
They certainly refined their technique over what they'd done in 1993
