This is one of the most eye-opening articles I have read since 9/11.
It is astounding to think that the nation and some citizens of Saudi Arabia, while being venerated as some of our closest allies by the western press, are giving more monetary support to Islamic terrorists than Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Libya, and Lebanon put together. I think that we really need to focus our Pan-Islamic psy-ops war on exploiting the Wahhibic-induced rift, and make the outcome of opting for this particular method of observance a relatively certain ignomious death, not glory and fear-based power.

This is a good article but I am fairly certain that it's been posted already.

Interesting view. It is all news to me, but much of the religious-politic that is spread throughout the Moslem world is not readily available news in the West.

NATO ready to provide US with more spy planes "If there are an additionnal request, that is something NATO nations will certainly have the capability to give," Ralston told a group of journalists at his headquarters outside Mons, near the Belgian-French border.
On Monday, NATO ambassadors approved the redeployment of five of NATO's 18 E-3A AWACS from their base in western Germany to the United States for "counter-terrorist operations" in American airspace. ( AFP )

Dang! This is one of the most enlightening things I've read in a while. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for the post. This has been a basis for my opinion of the Middle East and Islamic world for more than a decade. I fully believe we can utilize the contradictions and natural divisions in Islam for good effect. I believe Bush is attempting to do this. No matter what he does, or tries to do, he may not be successful. These are dangerous times. But whatever the case, the Saudis are not our friends - they just use us.

There is another historical lesson to be drawn. Wahhabismwhose quintessence is war on America seeks to impel Islam centuries back in time, to the faiths beginnings, yet it is neither ancient nor traditional. I see it as the continuation of what should be called the Dark Ages of Islam.

Here's to the Wahabi desert to come. Like ancient ruins buried beneath the sandstorm isle of desolation they shall lay despot and vagrant as pillars of the disregarded and insignificant pieces of shit that they are.

One of the best articles I have read on the situation. The trick is how do we secure a cooperative government in Saudi Arabia and also keep the oil flowing?

Great Read Thanks. However, bin Laden wants to kill the Saudi Royal Family. It is my understanding that many Muslim leaders wanted Rumsfeld to assure them that if they backed this war against bin Laden that the US would see it through to the death of bin Laden. They are afraid that the US might not finish the job...like Somalia, Iraq adventures....and leave them alone in the middle east to face the revenge and wrath of bin Laden. Sadat paid for cooperating with the US with his life at the hand of the Muslim Brotherhood.... now a partner of bin Laden.

I mostly studied Arabian culture of the 9th Century to the early 14th Century AD. This is interesting. It answers some of my questions. I have many more.
Why do I see videos of Muslims holding giant pictures of guys like Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein? Isn't that cult worshipping? A picture can be treated just like a shrine or statue. That's against Islam, I believe. I got someone upset when I posted that some ignorant Muslims would hang Mohammed on their walls if a photo existed of him. That's not being tolerant, but flag burning morons and pictures of murderers made into heroes makes me mad.
