Thanks for emailing. Actually, Madison's school board WILL play the national anthem each day, but without the lyrics. They felt this was a compromise that wouldn't offend those who don't like the words.

Technically, they are not in violation of the law because the law gave an either/or choice (pledge or anthem every day). However, not allowing children to say the pledge at all could be another story. I know our legal counsel is aware of this situation. I will let you know if anything develops.
