GMA/Gibson also reported that the intern is not suspected. The "gift" mentioned in the media was bagels and cream cheese.

Okay - I'm responding to myself. It was between the 7-7:30 timeslot and could have been Matt Liar. Head of FL Health Dept. specifically said he did not hear any news about a librarian at the Sun having tested positive for anthrax.

The Fla Sec. of Health was just on CNN and he still claims there is still only two cases. I clicked on late into the interview,so I do not know if he was asked about the 3rd possible case from the same building in Fla. Moreover, he still claims that they still have NOT ruled out natural causes.

He's not stupid, just careful. His job isn't to speculate or stir panic. He needs to be serious and reasonably sure of his pronouncements.

His statements are probably much further down the information food-chain than other sourced (hospitals, cdc, fbi, etc.) breaking stories.

Listen to what he says but don't take it as the absolute knowledge of all possible current affairs. Once a determination is made on another case, he'll be back. Or someone will. It's frustrating, but it's important to have these 'layers' of information to enact damage control on the public consciousness and prevent panic (including making their jobs harder as people hord antibiotics, self-medicate, or unknowingly infected move out of the zone).

Thanks folks. Thought maybe I was losing my mind, because I couldn't find anything discounting this case (did find the VA case). Seems as though there's three levels here:

1. Accidental (authorities' original claim, discounted by now)
2. Isolated biowarfare case (we're here now)
3. Integrated biowarfare attack at multiple locations throughout US (hope we're not headed here next...)

No need to apologize. It's the first time I saw this. Don't worry about posting police. Just keep on posting - of course, do a search first.

One thing that should be stressed is not to be panicking by running out to the pharmacy and starting a regimen of Cipro o.k.? Not only would it be highly ineffective, and it would be a very good means of decreasing immune response to antibiotics in general or even become the breeding grounds for a strain of antibiotic resistant microbes. That could end up killing you deader than any bogus anthrax attack.

Thanks for the updates. Generally, I take these morning shows with a grain of salt. Especially as it's all taped delayed on the West Coast

The Fl. official might be truthful. Or not. Or not know. Or not confident in his information. Or maybe the executive got it wrong. Either way, we'll know over the next several hours.

Here's hoping 1 dead is all we'll see of the anthrax outbreak. We'll find out this is all a case of where we "feed ourselves lives and we scream for action"--that's my hope: no more cases, natural cause.

there is a lesson to be learned here folks...

In our rush to be tolerant, a bunch of employees at an American company ignored an ominous message from a departing Middle Eastern employee that said "I left you all a present." People are truly strange. Are you telling me not one person thought to themselves that they should contact the FBI? Even if this note was prior to 9/11...wouldn't you think back and say that this was curious enough to ask for, at the very least, an investigation into this employee?

ANY suspicious activity should raise a red flag. If I got a letter from an employee named John McDonald right now that said I left you a little present (and found it not to be an unflushed bowel movement) I would be nervous. These folks seem to have not batted an eyebrow.

On MSNBC, the anchor just asked the Fl. Health Sec. to confirm this story.

She said that a 67 yr old lady who worked there came down with symptoms of Pneumonia earlier, and so today was asked to return to the hospital to be tested for Anthrax.

This guy pulled a Clinton and simply responded with "I am not aware of any confirmed cases of Anthrax".

These people better start being straight with us, or they really will start a panic.

I am with you , here's the list again
The building where the staffers worked - which houses The Globe, The Sun, The Star, The National Enquirer, and Weekly World News - was ordered sealed yesterday.
Don't know if it is the clintons or what.
But this is bound to take the heat off of several Politicians.

Can you imagine if you were someone who did not read very much perhaps just the local tabloids, was not computer literate at all and relied on TV news or Radio news only? On top of that, not really have any source about imformation on anthrax except what you get from TV news people. This computer thing is a blessing!!!

They were also asked for all their computer passwords so investigators could probe their hard drives.

Everybody knows that computers harbor viruses...

ok--lame attempt at humor-- ;o)

Most Americans are not the type to run around in circles muttering the sky is falling.
And 99.99999% of us are not rushing out and buying masks.
The complacency of American education will be evident by the feeling of ignorance and helplessness of the clueless. Too bad. Let the liberals deal with that.

A lot of BS and rumors will circulate during these strange times. The question is what is worse?
For the government at all levels to "shield us" from the reality of what's happening nation wide?
Or to disseminate all information as quickly as possible to allow some kind of an effective response?

An unintendence consequence of nurturing a "Nanny" government?

Thank goodness the media jumped all over the statement that they were looking at "three people" in that INSULTING press conference yesterday by the state and county health department.

I was winding up to hurl an object at my television after that disgusting spew of half-truths and dodgeball.
