He had been hinting for several months that he had some sort of health problem.
You can send him a note here:

Hi 2J! This is Susan from townhall! Glad to see you are still active. My mom is almost totally deaf in her right ear. It was a slow decline that has been going on for almost 20 years now. I know how frustrating it is for both the person who has the problem and for the family. It does, however, make for some pretty funny mistaken phrases when she hears something totally different from what was said to her. There is always something to laugh at and to find humor with, you just have to have the right outlook on life. I have the feeling that Rush is the kind to find the silver lining. If Beethoven could compose, then Rush can still inspire us with his insight!

Just because Rush is a public figure does not mean he is duty bound to reveal his health concerns to the world. It reminds me of USA TODAY when they found our that Arthur Ashe contracted aids from a blood transfusion... if you don;'t tell, We ( the paper ) will!
By what right do Rush's listeners think they have to know his health problems? As evidenced by today's show, he revealed the details, as much as he wanted to share, WHEN HE WAS READY TO SHARE THE NEWS! The decision to share this sad news with us, his listeners, is totally within his jurisdiction!!! He did not lie to us. His condition, until he was ready to let us know about it, was none of our business!!!!!!!
I hope he will be able to have a good resolution to this problem so that he can enjoy all the things he does AND to continue his show. We need Rush... no one can do the job the way he does....It is way too soon for the golden EIB mic to go to a museum!!Prayers for Rush and Marta are in the works!

Ok, Ok, I will take myself out to the woodshed as soon as I'm done here. When I complained about Rush's voice and/or many "vacation" days I was more worried about his losing his show then the voice/vacation thing. I thought if there was something going on he should just come forward and say so. People out here in Freeper land would be very understanding only if they knew what it was--he did not have to go into detail, just a few words about what was going on. Too many of us were concerned, then annoyed. Bless you Rush, and I wish you all the best.

Very sad news indeed! Thanks for the post. I heard Rush explain it today. He'll be in my prayers and I sent a email. God bless him!

My post was a response to Hatteras, for his posting of "What?!"
I find that a funny response to hearing related statements.
It's a 'private joke' between my wife and I due to my own hearing problems.
I have great sympathy for Rush, I was among his earliest supporters.
I called our local radio station to get them to air his show. (You can figure how long ago that was)
Again, my reply was for the poster 'Hatteras". Not you. Not Rush, nor his problem.

Rush Limbaugh, overall, is a good man, and a great American. My family will pray for him.

Rush has said many times that the people who considered him to be an overnight success didn't realize how many frustrating years he had actually been in the business, barely getting by. Butting heads with management, being fired several times, even having to work for the KC Royals. Coming back to radio, he persevered and
finally made it to the top bigger than anyone would have imagined.
Rush is THE example of perseverence. His never-quit attitude which carried him to the top will see him through this.

I am losing my hearing too. Same here. Fortunately mine can be corrected with a hearing aid. Prayers for Rush.

his engineers have had to electronically alter his voice today, raising the pitch. I personally LIKED his voice more guttural...
Now he sounded way too young. Like when you see those OLD clips of our crusty old news anchors from 40 years ago, when you're used to hearing what they sound like now, they sound like teenagers.
(whoops, didn't mean to hit "private reply" the first time. :-)

Mike Savage made Rush obsolete years ago anyway Who's Mike Savage??
