He had been hinting for several months that he had some sort of health problem.
You can send him a note here:

If I am reading your remark correctly it is in extremely poor taste.
Rush is in my thoughts and prayers, and I am sure he will deal with this as best as he can.
Already the low-lifers at Bartcop.com and Democratic Underground are celebrating the news and making jokes about this tragedy.
To be fair, we had our share of the same creeps mocking Sarah Brady's lung cancer.
I wouldn't wish even these malignant idiots who rejoice in other people's illness any harm, because they probably, too, have families that love them.
Al Franken is a moral and intellectual midget. One would hope that Franken, unlike most liberals, would actually recognize reality and omit the word "Fat" when describing El Rushbo.
And more power to him if he can.
Envy is ugly. Get over it.
I thought perhaps he had to be treated for cancer of the tongue and was reluctant to admit that it might have been a result of his cigar habit.
Mad dog!
Conspiracy theory? Tin Foil City? Perhaps, but I still think the b**** and it's partner in crime are evil.
The best is yet to come. Ya HOO!
The Rush Linbaugh Web Site is now the most Important way for him to talk to the world. He is NOT finished. To all here that say or think that.
Rush has a quest for life and love for God and Freedom and America.
Mega Dittos Rush!
LOL...Thanks, I needed a good laugh. I can't imagine have the inability to show compassion--some people just don't get it.
But researchers at a dozen other medical institutions said in interviews that they were unaware of similar cases. "It's an interesting observation, but there's really no way to prove as yet that Vicodin caused this problem," said Dr. Steven D. Rauch, an associate professor of otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Mass.
Good thing the author chose to consult with others who are not waving their arms up and down running round the clinic claiming the sky is falling.
Metric tons of oxycodone are consumed in the US each year. Where are all the deaf folks? How about the background incidence of deafness that occurs without oxycodone consumption? Junk Science. and the LATimes is a great purveyor of junk science. What about you?
He does not sound a like a man who is at the threshold of a great personal struggle. Rather, he sounds like a man who's had a great weight lifted from his shoulders.
C-MAN
In times like these his words of wisdom are very much needed. And as we get closer to the 2002 elections, we will need these words to help guide us in our choices as to who we vote for public office. We get our show here on a two hour delay so I haven't heard what's been said about this problem yet, but I do know this. Earlier this year, another cnservative on our side, the legendary news commentator Paul Harvey had a problem with his voice which caused him to take a lave of absence from his radio broadcasts. Thankfully, the skill and experience of his doctors, he was able to get back him on the air last month.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rush Limbaugh during this time of crises. He is a very valuable asset not just to his affiliates, but even more important, to the conservative movement. Now, more than ever we need him to be with us through these times that we are in. I hope all you Rush detractors out there that are posting smart aleck remarks in response to this news will rethink your position and so as much compassions as you claim to have.
Rush, our prayers are with you.
Regards.
Rush's millions couldn't buy him his hearing back with procedures, and the only thing left to try is a cochlear implant, which he must lose 100% of his hearing to receive.
Thanks for illustrating the kind of people Rush-bashers are.
:)
