This is interesting.
When politicians want to dump bad news, they usually do it on a Friday, because most people stop caring about the news over the weekend, and by Monday, it's "old news."
Could the timing of this strike have been set to get the most media attention? (Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's Bush's job to rally the country!)
The story I heard was that it was set for a Sunday, followed by a Monday when many Fed'l gov't offices have a Columbus Day holiday so that there won't be any immediately attractive targets for retaliation.
Typical of Bush - instead of trying to save his own butt, he's looking out for as many Americans as he can.
