Bump. The US has qualified for 4 straight world cups now. So far, Costa Rica and the US have qualified out of North and Central America, Mexico and Honduras will fight out for the last spot when they play Nov 11th. In the old days, Mexico was the top dog, but things they are a changing.
I am a bit bummed that the game wasn't moved to ESPN... it was originally to be played on ABC, but heck, we are bombing the snot out of the Taliban, Bonds hits #73, and the US is going to Japan in 2002. Life is good today.

Indeed. And don't forget the Emmy parade was cancelled, AND I hear that's costing CBS mucho dinero. You're right, life IS good today. :)

We will really piss off the rest of the world when we win the world cup.It seems to be taking over in America. All our baseball lots are empty. It makes me sad to see that.

LOL! Actually the best news of the bunch :) Good Ol' CBS - the Emmy cancellation couldn't happen to a more deserving network. What will all those leftist TV actors do for a fun time?

Yes indeed! I was feeling bad about not putting "football" or "futbol" in the keywords, actually. But since I can't for the life of me figure out how to search on those keywords anyhow, I guess it matters not.
Soccer does seem to be taking over the current generation of American kids.. and since some of our players are gaining recognition overseas (and good players want to come play for MLS) things are falling right in line. Futbol is such a great game!
I'm a mom and can't wait for my two girls to get involved. My four-year-old already loves kicking a ball around.

It makes me sad to see baseball out of favor, but when it costs that much to take your family to games... plus this stuff about No One Loses in the t-ball training of little kids, among other things, it's not really much to wonder. Personally I used to be a huge fan years ago, but that strike, where Sandberg quit, then rejoined after it was over? That was it for me and baseball. I was happy with my decision when the whole Dodgers/Piazza money thing happened. (Can you tell I've lived in Chicago and LA?) Baseball has moved away from all the things that made it great. There are so many wonderful things to love about soccer.

Another USA bump! Many americans "don't get" soccer, but it truly is the World Sport. The World Cup is "The World Championships". It is so awesome that the USA now has made it to the final round in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002.
Claudio Reyna set up both goals. He plays for Glascow Rangers in the top Scottish division. Last week, a fan from their rivals, Glascow Celtic, was banned for life from attending matches after he was heckling USA Captain Reyna by miming airplanes flying into buildings. Good for Reyna that he came up with such a big effort today. Go USA!

Thanks for the posting. Great Job USA Men's Soccer.
Hopefully, the boys will let Mia play on their team to improve the average beauty factor.

Yack! I can't stand soccer...too boring!! But I hope the USA goes far.

Jeff Agoos celebrating along with Joe Max-Moore, who scored both goals, and Claudio Reyna who helped set up both goals in the USA's 2-1 victory over Jamaica which clinched a berth in World Cup 2002 Japan/Korea.

A huge game for Joe-Max who is a beloved former member of the New England Revolution here in the Boston area. He has since moved on to play at Everton in the English Premiere League (one of the, if not the, best leagues in the world).
I was not happy that the game was not shown, but I will tape it and will watch it after I get back from my baseball game tomorrow. Yes, Fall Baseball in 40 degree weather is so much fun!!!!!
GO USA!!!!!!
