October 7, 2001 another day to live in infamy

It just struck me that it's Sunday, the 7th., and in a year that ended in a "1". Quite similar to the Pearl Harbor attack. Only this time it's the US doing the attacking and rightfully so.

Not too swift.

in·fa·my n. pl., in·fa·mies. 1. Evil fame or reputation. 2. The condition of being infamous. See Synonyms at disgrace. 3. An evil or criminal act that is publicly known.

If it is right, than it is not infamy:

in' fa•my (n) 1. Evil fame or reputation; public disgrace, dishonor, or reproach. 2. Quality of being infamous; also, an infamous act.

Strangely enough, today (Sunday, Oct 7) is the feast of the Most Holy Rosary. The Rosary has "in the course of the centuries...obtained many graces for Christendom. The feast of our Lady of the Rosary was instituted to commemorate the victory of Lepanto (Sunday, October 7, 1571) when, thanks to the recitation of the Rosary, the forces of Islam, which threatened to invade Europe, were broken...[I]t was extended to the Catholic world by Clement XI, in thanksgiving for another triumph over the same foes in Hungary in 1716 under Charles VI..." (from The Saint Andrew Daily Missal, pg 1491).

Pray for all our soldiers, especially those in intelligence who will be choosing targets and evaluating info. May God grant them clarity, accuracy, and thoroughness.

I keep thinking of all the lovely things we can make . . .
apple pie (with lard crusts!)
pork sausage
roast pork
hot dogs
(lard) soap
. . . to send to the troops overseas. Tuck in a few pin-ups and a case of beer, and the war might be over without another bomb.
