"Well, we might just be in oddball time zones. ;-) "
Like this Aussie. I would love to see a list of countries where some FReepers live.
Someone mentioned the other day that Todd is now banned from LP too.
BINGO!
Everything old is new again. Our Founding Fathers argued politics in ale houses. We do it on the net. Only difference is we have to bring our own beer :)
I'll bet we've got a lot of them covered. ;-)
Bump for history's sake.
At the top right of the forum, click on "More", then click on "My Locale" and there you will find the list of states and countries, with the number of members for each.
Hey, you live in Whidbey Island. I went to my first two years of elementary school there. Beautiful place.
MurryMom our Token Liberal
Cheers! < /sound of glass in fireplace>
Bump for surprisingly balanced piece!

A most interesting read, although I had thought I read that most young people today were surprisingly conservative and this author seems to think they are liberal.
Lap dance?
Yea, I thought the same thing you did. I wish he would have mentioned that - the vast expertise and knoweldge and creativity of those on FR is amazing. News stories get gutted within minutes of being posted for their innacuracies.
To become a true Conservative/Libertarian you must think outside the box and be an independent thinker to begin with - I think the default political ideology is liberalism - so, it is not surprising that FReepers question everything and search for the truth in a wide variety of subjects, politically, sociologically, cultural, scientifically etc...
I also think he hit upon the crude posts quite well. These posts are obviously in the minority, but are, unfortunately, the ones most remembered and are frustrating to see.
It would be a lot easier to get people of color, muslims, and people from other countries to enjoy and learn from this site if these posts were cut down.
I also wish he would have mentioned the fact that journalists, bloggers, politicians, policy makers, and influential contributers and political junkies regularly visit this site. The debates on this site can effect national policy. :)
I like his emphasis on Libertarianism. As Ronald Reagan said, "When you analyze it, the heart and soul of Conservatism is Libertarianism". I hope more and more Conservatives begin to realize the truth in this and not label, for example, those advocating the legalization of drugs as 'pot heads', and instead look at the rational basis for their arguments (especially the national security issues).
my 2 cents.
Unfortunately, that will never happen. I know I learned my lesson on this very well.
Thanks for the post! This one is going into my favs.
WOW when it boils down to it were all just people with varied opinions and mostly with right way thinking
Well DUH !
A great memory hole finding!
