Your Parish is Blessed to have such a caring priest. I have NEVER (that's right, NEVER) heard a homily on the right to life since a priest asked us to send a telegram to Gov. Ronald Reagan to beg him not to sign the abortion bill that had just been past by the CA legislature. This pre-dated Roe v. Wade.
I am Catholic, and I have attended churches all over this country. I am sad to say that that has been my experience. Most pastors are too skittish to bring up the subject.
