I think you might be right. Seems I recall pecan groves. They were about the only green things around, besides cactus. I lived there in the early 70's and the biggest things Deming had was a truck stop and a cattle sales lot. Otherwise it's sand, cactus, tumbleweeds and the Florida Mountains off in the background.
