Israel has fought the US before as many FR posts mention. US naval officers are questioned about their willingness to fire upon Israel. Well, indeed, no one is a fool, and every one knows implicitly, especialy the Israeli security services, that one of the options of the Bush admistration is to give up Israel. A very attractive quick solution to our problems. However, this will mean that the algorithm of operations and relations with the US of the terrorists won't be changed given such success, if it actualy happens.
What we are witnessing is how every one in the US is on the left. We would rather be on welfare protection from terrorists by letting them have Israel, than bear arms ourselves to clean house. It's a welfare mentality deeply ingrained in our business community and effectively hidden by this Microsoftian business "innovation" and "entrepreneurship" front that those companies like to boast. Such attitude is often rationalized under the vague term of "US interests" versus "Israel interests", as if the two were not common. Frankly, why not talk about the "terrorists' interests" either, and are ours more parallel with theirs?
