DOH!! My apologies for spreading disinformation. The local hard rock station, KEGL the Eagle, had reported it.

"Put Porte Allegre on the list of places to nuke!"

Now, dennisw, you know we can't do that, it just wouldn't be right. We do not, however, have to keep sending the ol' do-re-mi to these ingrates, do we?

Saw him in '86, and he opened with "Far Beyond The Sun." The guitar stayed under the bed for a month after that.

Right on, Yngwie.

I'm gonna break out his song "I am a Viking." The first 3 lines are:

I am a Viking
I'm going out to war
I've got death upon my mind

Here's a few other good lines, dedicated to every scumbag middle-easterner who will soon be dead:

I am a slayer
And you will taste my steel
I've got your life right in my hands

Here's some lines dedicated to the pacifist pansies:

You are a loser
And it's such a shame
That you're a fool and you don't know
I am a Viking
I'll walk all over you
And by my sword, you will die

The radical Muslims and our local pacifists need to be punished harshly and there's not a whole lot of us that are feeling real shy right now.

We live in dangerous times - but you can't let fear rule your life.

Sounds wise as well as talented.

Thanks for the excellent post. I can only guess what the atmosphere must have been like. The U.S. has long been envied/feared/despised throughout the world, particularly in bastions of poverty and ignorance - certainly this has long been rampant in South America. I spent 14 years in the US military, and I personally walked through a largely Turkish area of West Berlin (Kruetsburg) the day after some ugly anti-American rioting, proudly wearing a Mickey Mouse T-shirt that had Mickey waving the American flag in one hand, and flipping the "bird" with the other. Probably not the most politically correct sentiment, but it felt like the right shirt to wear that day. Not quite the same thing, but I can relate. Especially impressive that Yngwie is Swedish. Another thing that might not be politically correct, but I think it's true - we're seeing a war of cultures/civilizations here. Pretty obvious which side of that war the swarthy citizens of Porto Allegre see themselves on. F*** them all...
