City Councilman Joe Addabbo, hosted a renaming ceremony in the memory of FDNY Chief John Moran, who died in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. A portion of the Boardwalk at Beach 118 Street was re-named Chief John Moran Way in honor of the slain chief. Morans sister, Ellen talked about her brother and how much he loved Rockaway and Beach 118 Street. He was brought up here and he chose to bring his kids up here as well, she said.
