pro-victimhood is a feature of all of the anti-gun special interest groups, not just the ones mentioned here. Every organization that supports gun control apparently wants its members to be helpless, terrified and totally dependent on someone else to control every aspect of their lives. It doesn't matter whether it's a religious, racial, ethnic, political, social, or charitable group. From Handgun Control, Inc. to the Anti- Defamation League to the Million Mom March, they all want you to live in fear. In this scheme, soccer moms are "victims" just as much as are inner-city minorities.Journalists claim that their job is to tell the "objective" truth. But the obviouslly they cannot and do not tell ALL of the truth; most of it would be boring and journalism is an entertainment. The least boring part of the truth is the scariest part it. Hence,
"If it bleeds, it leads." It is scarcely to be expected that someone whose business it is to propagandize in favor of fear would eagerly publicize the efficacy of self-defense . . .

But they are less than clear about what subject they teach. Since in fact we "pupils" do not have to listen, these "teachers" are actually entertainers who select the subject matter to avoid being ignored. The subject journalism teaches is, "Why you should be afraid."
It is no accident, then, that journalists have no interest in promoting effective defense which could actually ameliorate the fear. And, as the example of Ronald Reagan illustrates, conservatives reject the counsel of fear and are inherently in opposition to journalism's intrinsic message. Whereas "liberals" merely echo journalism's message--making any claim of independence of journalism from liberalism moot.

I read only this far and gave up. I feel wonderfully free from trying to understand twits any longer in this life. They are now well marginalized and I expect the rag-heads to keep killing us with abandon which will keep that margin well off to the side and make it narrower and narrower..
