Greyhound Bus stopped after bomb threat call-in The bomb squad of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is searching a Greyhound bus after the South Carolina Highway Patrol stopped the bus on an exit ramp at Highway 129 and Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County. Troopers stopped Greyhound Bus Number 2746 after an anonymous telephoned bomb threat was received at a Greyhound terminal in Atlanta this afternoon.
The bus was stopped in Spartanburg County shortly after 5:00 p.m. Troopers removed the passengers from the bus one-by-one. The passengers put their hands over their heads and were patted down by troopers, then each passenger walked to an area a safe distance from the bus. Some troopers took cover behind their patrol cruisers with their shotguns pointed at the passengers as they were searched.
Two technicians from the bomb squad of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office suited up in protective gear, then searched the bus and removed luggage from the underneath compartments of the bus. At this hour (7:50 pm), the bus is still stopped, and authorities remain at the scene.
A Greyhound spokesperson says the bus was on a non-stop run from Atlanta to Charlotte.

Since news is so sparse on this and the previous thread was so long I am posting this update. When will Fox, CNN, et al cover this important breaking story?

Perhaps it is best not to give the kookburgers any more ideas. In this case, the less publicity the better.

"In this case the less publicity the better."
So how do we decide the cases that we can talk about and the cases that should be buried?

important breaking story? Since when is a bomb threat an important story? You'd just be inviting more bomb threats to treat it so.
To: cgbg
Why should the networks give the prankster who called in the threat any more jollies?

Sept. 21, 2001 - worst "accident" in France since the second world war (29 dead, 600+ seriously injured, "thousands" injured). Toxic cloud over Toulouse, headquaters for Airbus and Ariane. Immediately the French government discards ("99%") the possibility of a terrorist act.
Sept. 28 - the experts demolish the government version that it would have been an accident. One week later the french media is still talking about "thousands" injured, without giving precise numbers. The media also mentions "thousands" plaints against the government. Any other facts are from now on censored.
Does this answer your question ?
If this is beyond your imagination, then check the big picture :
FINAL BATTLE NEWS

Probably called in by a DOJ hack because the Congress isn't moving fast enough on the new FBI powers laws. Gotta get everyone scared and demanding that Congress give the FBI whatever they want.

Immediately the French government discards ("99%") the possibility of a terrorist act. Just spoke with someone in France yesterday, and when I said that we had heard it was an accident, he said..."ooohh, they are not at all certain about that at this point..!"

It seems like if this was merely a bomb threat that it wouldn't take this long to conclude there was no bomb present. A bus just isn't that big--we are not searching a building here.
Also, I can't seem to pin down whether any of the passengers were ah, of a certain ethnic background. There were some claims of that sort I have been unable to verify.
If this is much ado about nothing, fine. But if it is serious I want to know what the $%#^ is going on!

Immediately the French government discards ("99%") the possibility of a terrorist act. Why wasn't this news front and center here? It's really pretty important. They went through almost the same thing we did, and we couldn't send our condolances to them?

Even if it does turn out to be a fake ,I sure wish they could catch the jerk that called it in. Some people...

IT WAS IN THE BREAKING NEWS SECTION WHEN IT HAPPENED BUT WITHOUT ADDITIONAL REPORTS IT HARD TO RELAY THEM. Sorry about the caps just noticed I had them locked.I work in a chemical plant/refinery here in houston and I am always concerned.

All that you speculate may be true may turn out, in fact to be true. But at this point, it is just speculation.
What would be the point of having network cameras trained on this event if the ultimate result is "false alarm, no bomb" ? The whole incident would be blown out of proportion, contributing to public hysteria for no good reason. Also, other nuts would be inspired to make more threats.
On the other hand, if the incident does actually involve a bomb, then the situation is well in hand. No passengers are at risk and there are no hostages. The appropriate people are making the necessary search.
Chances are that this amounts to nothing, but even if it is real, there is nothing to be served by going to panic mode. Whatever the results of the search, the news will promptly be related.

We must always remember:
We must always trust our Goverment
Our Goverment will not lie to us
Our Government has never lied to us
The FBI has only our interest at heart.
The FBI would never abuse it's power
Corporate profit will never come before the security of the people.
The people of this nation are important.
The new laws are for the American peoples peace of mind.
We need big Government to help us control our lives.
All politicians are experts on everything.
End of rant. Now I'm gonna go out and form a coalition.

"I work in a chemical plant/refinery here in houston and I am always concerned." You're concerned about the security of the chemical/refinery plant right? Not about the CAPS BEING LOCKED....:-)
It's definitely a full moon...weird things have been happening all freaking day. I even got the bills paid..on time. The checkbook balanced, the kids went to sleep without a fight, life is good.

Why wasn't this news front and center here?Good question. I remember hearing about it ONE day, then when it was pronounced "accidental", it dropped off the radar screen.
