P.S., What is the protcol on non-marines saying "Semper fi" with respect to a(n) (ex- if there is such a thng as ex-)Marine?

I presume its "not done," but it would be nice to do as a sign of respect.

There are no "ex-marines." There are fellows who wanted to be Marines who exited with a BCD, that's as close as it gets. The rest, God bless 'em, are Marines until the day they die.
