The centerpiece of your #2 NYC skyline photo is Justinian's church of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople -- arguably the greatest Christian edifice ever erected, and the site of thousands of Christian martyrdoms when Mehmet captured the great city in 1453. To this day it features some of the most profound and dazzling works of Christian art and iconography ever created. New York should be so lucky.
