GURKAS TO ENTER THE ACTION
Vanity | Oct. 2, 2001 | Me

Posted on 10/02/2001 4:47:51 PM PDT by jslade

Heard on Nightly News with Tom Lockjaw tonight that the British are bringing in up to 20,000 Gurka troops for service in Afganistan. Now, if history serves me right, these are some of the most frightening, blood-thirsty, efficient, killers on the planet. I have read many exploits of the Gurkas from WWII and Korea. Would love the hear of more Gurka stories.

The statement of "renting men" to fight battles is an insult.

Have some respect for a warrior.

They deserve no less.

If anybody can bring terror to the heart of the terrorists, and I'm not discounting the BUFFS (I flew one), knowing Gurkhas were in action would cause many sleepless nights. They love to kill.

Then there is the story about British 100 British soldiers being dared to attack a lone Gurka soldier occupying a position. After quite a period of time, a sole British soldier eventually crawls back to his own lines just as his commander is about to send reinforcements. The one survivor from the first assault warns his commander, "Don't do it. He lied. There's two of them."

Hire them for the INS. Illegal immigration would die of a coronary knowing that these guys were waiting on the US side of the border.

With knives of course. That would stop it in it's tracks. "Senor, what is that you have in your right hand". ROFL.

I must agree. If I was as good as one of these Gurkas, I would be very formidable indeed.

Legend in the Subcontinent has it that Gurkhas and Pathans (Pashtuns) are the most fierce fighters on earth. This is going to be some matchup.

The Pashtuns are not under the Taliban, but neither have they signed up with the Northern Aliance.

The Gurka are some of the greatest fighting men ever known on any terrain, but this time they get to fight on the terrain they grew up in, High altitude, and steep mountains.

This is wonderful news.

There are soldiers and there are warriors.

I doubt the previous poster knows the difference.

Boy, have you got that right. Can you imagine our female, front line, combat troops up against an adversary like this. Scary.

I heard that once in North Africa, a German charged a Gurkha with a bayonet.

The Gurka took a swipe at him with his Kukhri knife.

The German, figuring he then had the upper hand, laughed and said Aha, you missed!

The Gurka said "Shake your head."

You figure out the rest...

Hmmmmmmm.......I've met a couple "butch" types with PMS who might........

Let's just hope that bin-Laden's 'women in Paradise' are of the looks of Roseann Barr and the libido of Ellen DeGenerate. That'll fix him.

During the Falklands War, Gurkha commandos would slip
into the trenches where the Argentine soldiers were
sleeping, and silently slit the throats of about one in
ten of the enemy. An Argie would wake up and find
the guy next to them dead with his throat cut...

Talk about psychological warfare!

The Pashtuns are not under the Taliban

Most members of the Taliban militia are Pashtun.

"There were many legends made by the enemies during the First and Second World Wars about the fierceness of Gurkha soldiers. However, the most recent one was reported in 1982 during the war of Britain with Argentina over the Falklands. According to the reporter of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) "The Argentines dropped their rifles and abandoned mortars and machine guns" as soon as the Gurkha soldiers marched forward. The Argentine soldiers were mainly afraid of the famous Gurkha knives called "Khukuri" because they had chopped the heads off many Germans and Japanese in hand to hand combat during the world wars."

USMC, SEALS, SAS, USA, USAF, USN, Royal NavyArmyAirforceMarines, and now Gurkas!

All looking down their sights at them.

WhooHoo!

This is great news, I'm glad these guys are on our side! The mountain elevation should pose no problem to them and with British and American artillery and airstrikes at their disposal they will be the toughest force the Taliban has ever seen. Mountain fighting will be second nature to the Gurkhas, God bless them!

V.C. awardee Agansing Rai

"Realising that the gun had to be taken out as quickly as possible, Rai led his men directly across 80 years of ground to the machine gun, and killed three of the four soldiers manning it himself.

Rai and his men then charged a second gun. All but three were killed before they reached halfway, but they managed to knock it out.

Then Rai, with a grenade in one hand and a sub-machinegun in the other, single-handedly attacked and killed four Japanese soldiers firing from a bunker and inflicting heavy casualties on his fellow soldiers.

A spokeswoman for the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association said: ...
"He was very self-contained and quiet, but he had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed life greatly." "
