Rep. Condit Trying to Sell Apartment

WASHINGTON (AP) - Rep. Gary Condit (news - bio - voting record)'s Washington apartment is for sale.

The California Democrat and his wife, Carolyn, are asking $130,000 for the one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom top-floor condominium in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. It has high ceilings and a washer and dryer and may be seen by appointment only, according to a computerized real estate listing.

Brian Hong, an agent with Pardoe Real Estate, confirmed that the apartment was for sale, but declined further comment.

Condit has yet to announce whether he will run for re-election. His current term runs through the end of next year.

Telephone calls to aides in Washington and California were not returned Tuesday.

Pictures of Condit entering or leaving the building were staples of news coverage at the height of interest in his relationship with Chandra Levy, a 24-year-old from Modesto, Calif., who disappeared in Washington five months ago.

Police searched the apartment with Condit's consent in July. They have said they do not consider him a suspect in Levy's disappearance.

They have said they do not consider him a suspect in Levy's disappearance because they have not declared a crime.

Selective reporting.

I just sent this article to my friend who lives across the street from him. She is looking for a place to buy. [tee hee]

Can't wait to hear her reaction. Second only to Mr. Blowdry himself, his neighbors were very relieved for respite when the camera crews left last month. Unfortunately, the camera crews were replaced by military convoys and F-16 flyovers.

Don't know if they're Freepers, but right now there are several, very noisy protesters outside Condit's Modesto office demanding that he resign. His much ballyhooed Condit Country, which was to be held later this month, is no longer being promoted, and now he's selling his DC digs. Put a fork in him....

Mr. & Mrs. Condit are NOT living in THAT apartment. They are staying elsewhere. Selling it is no biggee.
