Maybe there is something to the old injunction not to trust anyone over 30--at least on campus. Within the confines of the faculty lounges where graying radicals are now ensconced, September 11 may be seen as another example of America paying for its sins. Yet students seem to have recognized it for what it is: their Pearl Harbor.

America's alumni need to hold back $$ until the anti-American professors are eliminated. I'm not talking about a witch hunt, I'm talking about academic integrity and the elimination of the witch hunts on traditionalism. There is no way my kids are going to Harvard, Yale or any other major liberal university on my hard earned money and I seriously doubt they'll go on their own when I can find some traditional alternatives with classically trained professors.

Glad the kids are realizing how stupid they can make their professors look with just a little real learning.

At the Yale Daily News, the editors put it this way: "After September 11, 2001, we came of age as a generation. We agreed on an agenda. We faced the same enemy. And now the government is asking us: Will we serve?" They concluded by answering their own question: "We must answer the calling of our time--for if we don't, who will?"

They will. Many of them will.

The concept of tenure was specifically designed to prevent this. It is to protect political speech in the classroom- not to protect bad teachers or poor teaching methods. I agree the free market should prevail. Not witch hunts but consumer choice and market competition.

The Academians live in a very priveledged world where they take turns patting each other on the back. They have been exposed now for who they really are.
Let's see what happens next.

I don't think I would worry too much about that......

adversarial is waaaaaaaaay more entertaining.

They are probably quite safe.
When this thing breaks it will break fast and violently.
Then settle into a cat and mouse game between governments and cells of loonies.
Some of these guys might find their way into it via CIA or State Department but the fast and violent part will remain a chore for the unwashed just as it has since Vietnam.
We might see draft cards again, and maybe a return of the GI Bill, but any actual draft would most likely be avoided.
I'll believe masses of Ivy Leaguers piling into recruiting offices when I see it.

Now, if they were to revolt and toss the flower old folks out of their classrooms....I'd surely settle for that.

Maybe there is hope. Those of us who went and did our duty without being called and without a national emergency or attack have a duty to keep reminding our fellow citizens that
FREEDOM isn't FREE!!!
It is bought and paid for with the lives and blood of patriots. Those unwilling to fight for their rights will not keep them for long.

...America's young have learned something about their obligation to a free if imperfect society--even if it wasn't in the lesson plan.
