GREAT article.
What this really boils down to is the Professor being intolerant of other's views and beliefs, while at the same time, claiming that the flag being displayed may cause others to be uncomfortable. That's the zany world of "new science" for you.
I hope that Dr. Singleton would be as concerned if one were to display on exhibit a Crucifix immersed in urine or other such provacative scene. We can only hope he would, or perhaps he would claim that the right to express one's self is an important right, indeed.

Somebody offends me somehow every single day. There's nobody stomping around in jackboots making sure *I* am not offended. Malcolm X caps, for example, seem to me to be a symbol of SOME blacks hating me just because I have a melanin deficiency. It's a symbol of murder and hate, to me, and all but an open threat. Yet I don't go around teling people to take them off because they offend. Were I to wear a KKK hat (not that I ever would!) I would not be tolerated the same way. Let this Singleton guy BURN a flag if he so desires--it's legal and if he does it safely it's his decision. But telling someone else what to do with HERS goes way over the line.

The Flag is just the next image in the continuum of symbols of Civilization that a certain groupthink wants eradicated.
Marriage (traditional style),Christian symbols in any public venue, prayer in schools, the Pledge of Allegiance----
What they really hate is Structure and Tradition. They might have to agree that rules, laws and norms have validity for the furtherance of a healthy society.
