My heart is not in sparring with you tonight--I just wanted to draw attention to my observation that on this thread, we have indicted sociology (...Ok, well-deserved), psychology, economics, liberal arts colleges, professors, Ph.D's and more.

All because of this one jerk do we indict...every one...any one...all academe?!

We had almost this same jackass controversy on my campus. In our case, a staff member wanted to collect flags from individuals and display them along the highway adjoining campus. Rather than a sociologist, it was professors from the English department who expressed the apparently robotic concern that foreign students would be "excluded." The staff member was not intimidated, and the flags were put up and remain. At one point, one of the English profs. insisted that there was no right to put the flags there because it was not the staff member's private property, and so she could put them there only at his forbearance.

The virus runs deep, believe me.

There is more than one commmie traitor lurking in the halls of academe in this country. Perhaps you could rephrase your question.....
