Here's my take: As stated in your above reply, you may have concerns that a Jesuit place of Catholic higher learning gives you pause. It should. That order has been infiltrated with the most marxist social justice crowd in modern ordination.
I'm grateful I attended a Vincentian Father's all men school, St. John's Prep, in Brooklyn NY (62-66).
We and they didn't suffer fools lightly.
Best FReegards.

Mrs. Margaret Post. This is an American we should all remember when we salute the flag!

Somebody offends me somehow every single day. There's nobody stomping around in jackboots making sure *I* am not offended. Malcolm X caps, for example, seem to me to be a symbol of SOME blacks hating me just because I have a melanin deficiency. It's a symbol of murder and hate, to me, and all but an open threat. Yet I don't go around teling people to take them off because they offend. Were I to wear a KKK hat (not that I ever would!) I would not be tolerated the same way. Let this Singleton guy BURN a flag if he so desires--it's legal and if he does it safely it's his decision. But telling someone else what to do with HERS goes way over the line.

I also sent the Professor a "nice" little note. You can also contact Mrs Post and let her know we are behind her. There is a link up above. :-}

Is this a spoof?
To: Lecie
Most of these liberals are very comfortable seeing the flag burned since to them it represents free speech. They are very uncomfortable when someone displays the flag as an expression of free speech.
You figure out what they are really thinking.
To: miss marmelstein
I doubt that this is a spoof. Massachusetts is well known for its left-wing morons.

Either Royce and colleages are :
a) left-wing, America hating intellectual elitists like a lot of the professorail scum on today's college campuses;
or
b)the flag offended, or they thought would offend, some of the foreign, Islamic parasties this government so generously allows to study here .

I'm glad to see this got posted.
When I saw this article in the T&G my first impulse was to call the guy and give him hell. After thinking about it for a minute, I said "Naw, this guy needs to be freeped!" I'm a long-time lurker here on FR but have never posted anything or replied to a post until now. I was all set to post this article, but see that I was beaten to the punch by another intrepid Mass. area Freeper.
Good work! In the broad scheme of things, I don't know how much good it does to call these traitorous elitists on the carpet, but it sure feels good to let them have it!

We have more support from Russian generals than we do from American college professors.

Certainly it's not universal, but my own personal experience bears out the fact that PhD's are the worst to work with.

"We have more support from Russian generals than we do from American college professors. " A few of us Libertarians have infiltrated the politically correct halls of higher education. We make the lefties crazy.

It was interesting to see what the Muslims at Holy Cross had to say..
Holy Cross's home page has a link to Understanding Islam, War, and Terrorism--- A Message from MECCA (Muslim Endeavor to Create Cultural Awareness)
On behalf of the Muslim community at Holy Cross, MECCA (Muslim Endeavor to Create Cultural Awareness) would like to express its deepest horror and sorrow at the terrible events in New York and Washington D.C.
....[snip]...
It is incorrect to understand the word jihad as "holy war." The word for war in Arabic is harb, and jihad is not used in that context. In Arabic, jihad means "to struggle."
This is interesting to me because a Muslim cleric visiting a local school here said "Jihad" means "One's profession."
Who is right?

A stupid bigot? Hey, now that's clever....usual people on FR just call folks an "idiot"....but you - you are so original!
To: VMI70
Thanks VMI - You have so much to be proud of too. There are great college campuses in this country and yours and mine are two examples of them.

The campus is filled with American flags, she said Thursday night. Holy Cross stands for academic freedom. As we have seen time and time again, academic freedom has a leftist ring to it and does not apply to conservatives, generally.
