Sharpton, an outspoken civil rights and human rights leader from New York City, So if you lie about a hate crime and try to ruin the reputation of cops, lead a protest which results in the death of a store owner, and make an anti Semitic statements, that makes you a civil rights and human rights leader in the eyes of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
