I fight all oppresive forces, be they the Taliban, the CIA, or capitalism. I think its time you people woke up and did the same. Breed

You think "capitalism" is an "oppressive force". In a way you are right; the bottom line opresses us all, especially because we know other people who prosper so well, so seemingly effortlessly. The trouble with being free is that you have no one to blame but yourself when you fail; nobody gave you an assignment in the name of the state which pigeonholed you in an unsuitable occupation.

But the "oppression" of the bottom line is actually a wonderful thing--when the money runs out you have to stop the futility and do something which is actually useful. And that is why pinkos hate the bottom line. Pinkos want authority--nay, lust for power--but smear and scapegoat like Bill Clinton at the very thought of having responsibility.

"How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think." -Adolf Hitler

Most people who feel like you do, do so because you have never considered the propaganda barrage to which we are subject. You bash "capitalism" but there is one industry which prospers on catastrophe and war like no other, not even the war ("defense") contrators. I speak of journalism. When does everyone watch/read journalism?

Nobody exploits the misfortunes of others the way that journalism does. If your best friend has just been eaten by a shark before your very eyes, journalists will show you sobbing and incoherent. But if you have your composure and have something you think important to say, where are they then?

Journalism is the Establishment in this country. Has been for a long time, and it's been getting worse. You probably think that I'm speaking against the First Amendment, but I am only arguing that you should think about the superficiality of the entertainment known as journalism. They tell you that they are objective, and if you just believe them you get the straight skinny. That's what they say, but how do you know that they only tell the truth, and how do you know they tell the whole truth?

The answer to that last question, friend, is: you know perfectly well that they do NOT. In the first place, journalism openly tells you that they only are about what just happened yesterday. Too recently for them to really know all the facts about the case. Any book will be less superficial than the best news story on a given subject. Secondly, you know that "If it bleeds, it leads." All journalism cares about is scaring you into paying attention to them long enough so you'll hear/read their advertisements. The very nature of journalism is to make people who don't think, feel the way you do.

very cute tirade against journalism. now answer this one, who owns the media? why, capitalists do. often times quite rich ones -- and not really "capitalists" -- more like "oligopolists and monopolists". Whose truth will they tell?
