The whole point of relooking at the Indian Wars is how successful it is to cut off support for any irregular forces. The British Army did this to counter the Bohrs, and the howl from the camps brought the Bohrs to the peace table.
Anyone can bomb the hell out of anything and any body, but the point of a real war to to make the real enemies of civilization never think of war in their lifetime. When a warrior is thinking about his wife, sister, mother, cousins, or other relatives in detention camps, they not only get careless, but they are sure not going to be able to hide amongst the civilian populous.
Give the average Afghani all the UN relief food that they can eat, but only if they stay behind the wire to keep getting it. If the taliban want to attack their own people in the encampments, then the Afghani people will see who the real enemies of Islam really are.
The elimination of safe havens is the only way to run these turds to ground. And, you let it be known that surrender is unconditional,
