Thanks for the replies. What is that saying that points out that they will ally with each other today to kill their common enemies so they can kill each other tomorrow.

Islam

Major Branches of Islam
Branch Number of Adherents
Sunni 940,000,000
Shiite 120,000,000
Ahmadiyya 10,000,000
Druze 450,000

Note: As with all other religions listed on this page (including Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Hinduism), not all historical branches of Islam consider each other acceptably orthodox. The numerically largest branch of Islam, Sunnis, believe that adherence to the five pillars of Islam and acceptance of certain key doctrinal positions are requisite for an individual's classification as a Muslim. Statistical data collection and secular/academic classification, however, are primarily based on self-identification and historical considerations.

The Druze, for example, are not considered part of the numerically dominant (i.e. "mainstream") Muslim grouping. But Druze are classified from a secular/historical perspective as a branch of Islam because they are derived from a branch of Shi'ite Islam. Having developed independently for hundreds of years, their cultural and religious self-concept is primarily Druze, without regard to how outside groups perceive or classify them. Nevertheless, they retain some self-concept as Muslims in addition to their clear historical ties.

This is merely a list of major branches of Islam. There are other groups which fall outside of the groups listed here. In the United States the Nation of Islam has varied widely in numerical and ideological prominence among American Muslims. It has variously been considered both heretical and acceptable by other Muslims. Sufism has been variously classified as a separate branch, a pan-Muslim movement, an order, a discipline, and as heretical or acceptable, as viewed by other groups. Movements such as the Moorish Science Temple and the Five Percenters have arisen from time to time, but have remained numerically minor. On balance, of course, Islam has exhibited far less division into different branches than other large religions.

30 years ago Anwar Sadat was assassinated because he made peace with Israel. Mubarak took over from Sadat.

Mubarak has fought the radical militants in his country this whole time. His country's enemy within.

He might have to give lip service to sedate some of the militants until the world can take care of them after bin laden and saddam.

I don't care what he says as much as I care what he and his country as a whole do.

Mubarak is a friend to the US as is King Abdullah of Jordan. I don't think they'll let us down even if they have to give a bit of lip service to calm the terrorists and enemies of their countries.

Iraq is predominatly Sunni Moslem, I believe. That's why after Desert Storm he attacked his Kurds in the north and his minority shia'a muslims in the south. I don't think the Sunni Moslems are really with saddam but that they are afraid of him and haven't been able to overthrow him. saddam is one crazy nut.

I don't know about them coming up through Mexico, but they are in the Carribean for sure.

They are also in cahoots with Osama Bin Laden.

In their view, America is a hegemon who needs to be humbled.

See The Art of War

It probably has a lot more to do with Taiwan than anything.

ohhhh and about the Druze...The Druze have abandoned the Five Pillars of Islam (recitation of the creed, reciting prayers five times a day, donating to charity, fasting during the month of Ramadan and making a pilgrimage to Mecca. Thus, they are not regarded by Muslims as Islamic.

Well, that put my tinfoil hat on. Trading in my gas guzzler and digging deep shelter in back yard.

At a time like this, and especially at a time like this, I continue to value your insightful perspective.

In fact, I actively LOOK for your posts.

In that case they won't let Iran in the coalition Iran is forming, since Iran is not Arabic. All kinds of nonsense is going to be tossed around in these days of shadowy warfare. The Kevin report is one kind. There'll be numerous others.

This is his "read my lips" moment.

I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're 100% correct. It is.

This can't be true. We all know that muslims are a peace loving people and support us in our effort to go after the small minority of muslim extremists that murdered 6000+ Americans. (/sarcasm)

Getting Sunnis to follow the radical Shiite leadership of Iran would be comparable to Episcopalians drafting Jerry Falwell for president.

I have known or known of some Iranian women here who are exactly as you describe. They love nothing more than putting on the make-up, expensive clothes and jewelry. They detest throwing the chador on over all of it and having to have all parties in private homes while visiting Iran. My former moderate Muslim neighbor described three incidents where she was arrested and taken to jail (briefly) for wearing mascara on the streets of Tehran when visiting her aging parents. But...I have had other Iranian neighbors who, while living here and enjoying the fruits of capitalism, have made clear their disdain for the American government and many American people in particular. I have had to endure this from several Iranian neighbors here in Los Angeles. All in all, these are people I can jolly well do without, regardless of what religion they happen to practice.

All of that is something to keep in mind.

On a lighter note:

And don't forget if you bomb us, we have dozens of camels to use against you."

Don't worry we have plenty of $2 millon missiles to take care of their butts!
