This is interesting, but none of our business. That's the form of government they have chosen. Let them suffer. I don't care. I will accept lashing out at them in retaliation for the WTC, but please, no more nation building.
Nation-building based on arrogant humanitarian meddling is one thing. Nation-building to replace paranoid regimes that threaten the United States with stable regimes that are basically friendly is another.
We did nation-building in Germany and Japan after WWII, for our own protection. If the Buchanan-Chomsky school of foreign policy was right, the WTC bombers should have been Japanese with German back-up. I think it worked out pretty well.
