GROZNY. Sept 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Chechen rebels seized a private TV channel at 21.30 Moscow time (1730 GMT) on Thursday in Avtury, Shali district.
The district administration told Interfax that for an hour the channel ran a foreign documentary on hostilities in Bosnia, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Chechnya claiming that there is a world conspiracy aimed at the physical destruction of Muslims.
The authorities say that simultaneously the rebels jammed the NTV channel to distract viewers from watching other programs. At 22:30 Moscow time (1830 GMT) the rebels fled the TV studio.
Deputy chief of the Chechen administration Adam Deniyev died in an act of terrorism in the Avtury television studio last spring.
No, that's too much too ask, simply withdraw your pressure on the Russians to negotiate with the terrorists and come to a "political solution".
The irony is they may even be right NOW. I wonder if they know how to say "Thank you Mr.bin Laden and Mr.Arafat!"
BTW,I think there may already be a agreement in place between Putin and Bush that will pretty much end this little problem for the time being.
I hope you are correct. Better the USA and Russia merge into one nation and take on all the islamic states with nuclear weapons than allow jihad to spread. We need to be solid with the Russians at this point. Islam is not going to survive if they continue on their current path of holy war. The Christains/Jews that make up most of the population of USA/Russia/Europe have all the heavy weapons and will not put up with the constant fear of terrorism. Everyone is saying on TV that this is not a war against Islam, but anyone with a brain knows it is. The Islamic states are hoping that American compassion will restrain our nuclear arsenal, but they just don't know the resolve of America. They view every American as a legitamate target and soon Americans will wake up to the fact that it is "us or them" and feel that there is no other option than to neutralize the threat worldwide.
