I wonder of Satan has enough of a sense of humor to make Bin Laden and Atta roomies?

I wonder which one will be the "virgin" for the other? :-]

They are false prophets, but I don't think he knew that. Therefore, I think it more likely he is in Heaven than Hell.

Whoa!!!!

OK, first off, there is one God and that God was incarnated in the form of the historic Jesus of Nazareth. He said that NO ONE comes to the Father, except by Him. That is pretty clear. Not by Mohammad, Joseph Smith, Bill Clinton, any of the John Pauls, etc. Only Jesus. Period.

Atta may be sincere about his faith, but he is sincerely wrong.

Second, on a point of order...

No one is presently in Hell. Hell is presently empty, and the fist resident of Hell will be the anti-Christ, followed by the False Prophet. Then there is the 1000 years, and then Satan, his angels, and all those who do not appear in the Book of Life takes up residence. Believe it or not, Satan is presently in the Throne Room of God, fulfilling his role as chief accuser.

I know that is contra to what we have been taught, but Hell is not presently in use.

Jesus's words on who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. Matthew 25: 31-46

"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. Then the King will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these, my brethren, you did it to me.' Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?' Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' And they will go away into enternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Some things you say are simply matters of faith. Personally, I think Muslims can go to heaven. Hindus too. Even communists.

As far as hell being unoccupied, I assure you it is not. I have been there and come back. It is located underground and there is a boat that takes you around it. It is cool, not hot. Thousands of little robots sing "It's A Small World" over and over and over and over and over. I have not sinned much since my escape.

"And the Father would forgive them if they had asked forgiveness."

How could they ask for forgiveness if they KNEW NOT WHAT THEY DID?

It may be convenient to believe that as long as we have "good intentions" everything will be okay, but I don't think it's reality.

I was just returning to say almost the same thing. It feels good to believe that somehow everyone will be taken care of as long as they mean well but it is simply not the truth. It is very wrong to start weaving into Scripture, the wishes of man. If all it took to get to Heaven was pleading ignorance or being confused, what would the point of the Word be? Why would we send missionaries all over the world? Why would Jesus instruct that His Word be spread to all of mankind? Why would followers die a martyr's death? I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Orion, can you explain briefly where you derive that summary from? Not being sarcastic in the least here; merely want to know where to study those points for myself.

One thing that I've been meaning to find out for quite a while and I never seem to get around to finding the answer is this: when a Christian dies we always take comfort in knowing that they're in the presence of the Lord. Yet we also hear that when Jesus returns, "the dead in Christ shall rise." If the saved are already in heaven, who/why are the dead in Christ to rise?

He didn't say, "No man comes to the Father unless he does a lot of good things in his life."

Then how do you make any sense of the Last Judgment, where Jesus sends the people who did good works to heaven, and the people who failed to do good works to hell?

The soul of the Christian is immediately with Jesus at death. The soul is reunited with a "perfect" body in the resurrection.

I think so too. But the important point is that JESUS SAVED THEM. Jesus death on the cross saves them. That is to say that Jesus in his perfect justice, sees into thier hearts. If he determines that they would have followed him had they not been "ignorant of his will." If they used the graces he gave them to the best of thier ability he will save them. So if the Buddah himself is saved, he is saved by Jesus.

Are you factoring in the fact that Jesus was still alive at this point and had not yet died and washed away the sins of the world? Jesus also asked in the garden for the cup to be taken from Him if it was the Father's will, but it was not the Father's will.

Somebody has his theological facts in order! You are eminently correct, Orion, no one is currently in that "place", or "state" which we refer to as Hell. Another common misconception is that it is somehow, Satan's "kingdom" where he will grant titles and authority to those which served him. Nothing could be further from the case. It isn't his "kingdom", but his prison, and unless I mistake quite, he will serve his eternal sentence, as will all others, angelic and human, in solitary confinement!!!

You have said it all correctly from the word of God. Theresa and Parsifal, you have no understanding of Christ and what he did on the cross and what salvation is about. I do pray for you to understand the gospel. I feel you must mix things you think with things people tell you or you have read, but you are not understanding what God tells you in the Bible.

Onion, our spirits leave our body at death never losing consciousness and we are either immediately united with Christ or we are in the pits of hell until the great white throne judgement. All of this is plainly stated in the Bible, in fact many times over to make sure it is clearly understood. No Muslim will ever enter the Kingdom of God, they were deceived by Satan, just as all other religions are full of devout and deceived people. Sad, but true.

I don't really understand your question. But I think I've made my points. And the main point is that whoever is saved is saved by Jesus and no one else. Some are fortunate enough to have been raised on the gospel. Some never hear it at all. Some hear it and don't get it. Some are told from the time of their birth that it is false and God will be angry with them if they adhere to it. (That is conditioning that may very hard to overcome for some and not hard for others) Some hear the gospel and decide they do not want to follow it because they love thier sins and do not want to give them up. God knows who's who and what's what. His justice is perfect.

Christians are especially blessed. And yet "To whom more is given, more will be required." So we Christians should not be smug about who is going where and who is going to be saved.

Would greatly appreciate chapter(s) and verse(s) that state this.

OH BROTHER. Just when I find a post with some attitude and righteous anger, here comes the religious scholars to throw cold water on the party.

REALLY, Freepers, must we allow these stuffy academics to destroy every thread? It's getting old already.

Anti-Christ and False Prophet thrown into Hell prior to 1000 years and prior to Satan's condemnation. - Rev 19:19-20.

Satan is not in Hell, and will not be there until the end of the 1000 years of Christ rule. - Rev 20:1-3

Anti-Christ and False prophet preceding Satan in Hell. Satan thrown in Hell after 1000 years. - Rev 20:7-10

Unsaved thrown into hell immediately after Satan. - Rev 20:11-15.

Matt 25:41 makes reference to Hell being "prepared" for the Devil and his angels.

As far as being with the Lord upon death, and rising to join the Lord Satan presently in Heaven serving as Chief Accuser. - Rev 12:7-12, Zech 3:1, Job 1:9-12

As far as your question about the dead in Christ shall rise, and being present with the Lord upon death. Here is my best attempt:

Your spirit is with Christ upon death. Your body is not. During the resurection of the saints, your "perfected" body will rise up and be with the Lord and your spirit. I may be wrong, but that is my understanding.

This swerves into the decision to be buried or cremated. The practice of burial is in some way a testament to the impending resurection of the saints, and cremation is the way Hindus release the "spirit" to be reincarnated. I am not saying that those choosing cremation will be denied resurection, just that it is a symbol of what to expect in the hereafter. Most choose burial or cremation on a basis other than religious. Just food for thought.

I hope this helps.
