"You shall have no other gods before me for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God... "(Ex 20:3-7). "You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods...lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you" (Ex 23:32-33). "If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods...I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed" (Dt 8:19-20). "If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways... (2 Chr 7:14).
Having eradicated prayer and any mention of God or of America's Christian heritage from our schools and public life, America is now constructing a new, polytheistic civil religion, one that includes Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.
--President Bush's inaugural speech ("churches, synagogues and mosques"), his "faith-based initiative," and the National Day of Prayer & Remembrance all give evidence to this phenomenon. At the National Cathedral prayers were offered to "the God of Abraham and Muhammad and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" during the National Day of Prayer & Remembrance.
--For Christians, Islam is a false religion with another god and false doctrines, utterly incompatible with Biblical Christianity. Islam, whether practiced by radicals or moderates, is a false religion that is damning millions of it adherents and proselytes to an eternal hell. Ironically, this war could give Islam a new significance and role in American public life.
--Christians must be tolerant of aliens but not alien faiths (Gal 1:8-9; 2 Jn 1:10-11). If, in this critical moment of history, after our nation has for so many years lightly esteemed the God of the Bible, will He now be pleased as we give honor and reverence to Allah and other gods?
--Even Christian prayers, offered by Christians to the true God of the Bible, will not be heard or answered unless mixed with Biblical repentance and faith.
In this critical hour, when God's people should be calling America and the Church to return to the God of the Bible, America is affirming a new pantheon of foreign Gods. This is utter confusion.
Please Join Us in Believing Prayer:
--Heavenly Father, AWAKEN Your people to extraordinary, effectual prayer. FORGIVE us for the religious mixture we have offered. PURIFY our prayers & cause them to rise before you as ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP. GRANT us TRUE REPENTANCE & RESTORE us to Yourself. In Jesus' Name. Amen (1 Chr 1:16:25-26; Dan 9:5-14; Ps 66:18; 143:all; Is 1:12-16; Is 59:2ff; Jer 14:12-14).
