The Neverending Story (The Christian Chronicles) -- Thread 151
Southern Baptists ending talks with Catholic Church ^ | 3/24/01 | AP

The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

"I have seen in the last week much ugly use of religion for chest thumping and blaming 'ragheads' and even blaming our decadence for the events of the last week. I would rather that we continue here, respectful of our unity in citizenship, in displaying how religion can be talked about without veering off into ugliness." (SoothingDave, 9/19/01)

Of course, the Kingdom of God was not the actual CHurch, but all believers in the Kingdom of God belonged to the Church. That is, of course, until Martin Luther declared himself infallible, tried to remove about half the books from the BIble (luckily he did not completely succeed), and today we have Christian Scientists refusing medical treatment, Jehovah's Witnesses refusing blood transfusions because Michael the ARchangel (aka Jesus) wouldn't like it, Seventh Day ADventists telling me I have to be a vegetarian and worship on Saturday, snake handlers, Oneness people rehashing 3rd Century heresy, Armstrogites (until recently) celebrating the Jewish holidays, and Harvey Fierstein look/sound-alikes in the Presbyterian Church USA.

Gee thanks Martin Luther! If you wanna talk about an anti-Christ, ML is your man.

If he is an ex-jebbies, he is probably a philosopher in disguise. Haven't you heard of the term: jesuitical?

There has never been any proof that Peter was in Rome Translation: I refuse to believe any evidence that challenges my prejuices.

LOL. He'll probably be horrified that one of the Jesuit priests used to bum cigarettes off of me when my class went on a retreat he was leading.

OF course, the retreat was where us "sleeper cells" were programmed on how to implement the One World Government.

The Kingdom of God is not the RCC, nor is it even the church. Who denies that? We are all Augustinians, and in The City of God, St. Augustine said as much. The Church is a mixture of wheat and tares, as are our lives, till judgement comes and we are purified or consumed entirely.

You haven't got a clue what Matthew 16:18 means so you ramble on like a vain philosopher.

Kinda like you don't have a clue what Matthew 1;25 means. Yet you ramble on like a vain philosopher.

From Thread 150 #177 Please go to www.scripturecatholic.com, click on "Blessed virgin mary" then on "Mary ever virgin" and post a link to the scripture verses that use "until" in a particular way? Blessed Virgin Mary Steven, for your consideration.

Why would I want to read this catholic crap yet again?

The translation doesn't matter? I think Jesus saying "You are Cephas, and on this Cephas I will build my Church" is hell'sa different than "You are Petros, and on this petra I will build my Church. It makes ALL the difference.

Who cares what you think.

Yep. I would try to keep the inside joke going but in all actuality, until I came to FR, I never heard of all these conpisracy theories about the Jesuits, so I really can't think of anything to add.

So I'll ask again. What church is he protecting and when did he start protecting it?

Stupid question. He protects His church. Believers in Christ. Because you guys got it wrong on Matthew 1;25 thats suppose to mean you don't have his protection anymore or belong to his church?

That would be news to the rulers of the Byzantine Emperor, whose daughter Anna offers us a great and insightful view of the first Crusade. Constantinople itself was under threat from the Seljuk Turks at that time.

Tell me, Was Salimen a Seljuk? He was in charge of his own territories; but, was he a Seljuk? No state of war existed with Salimen or his people, it existed with the Seljuk if at all. Yes, I know the difference. You aren't differentiating. You are basicly arguing that since Iraq invaded Kuwaitt, the proper thing to do would have been to go attack Iran.

There wasn't a state of war with Salimen and his people. The fact is, Salimen was ultimately dethroned, if you will, by the same forces that attacked Byzantium if memory serves. Wasn't his Brother a Seljuk. Wasn't it in fact his brother that was responsible for what was going on - not the leader of the empire. Or do you wish to overlook the fact that the turks did not all believe the same even then - did not all rally to one man in the same understanding. Just as all Christians do not believe the same things.

Yes I do know something about it. Instead of dealing with the problem at hand, you guys went out and decided to push back the boundaries and recreate Rome. I do understand what was going on enough to put it in context. You guys blamed the entire muslim world for what a group of terrorists led by a madman was doing. You charged in and slaughtered innocent muslims, Jews and Christians. Salimen's brother was a warlord looking to grow his domain and stake upon that growth a claim to the throne. But that isn't quite the whole story either. The Attacks on Byzantium were ultimately a result of the trade caravans of the Sultan being sacked on a regular basis, if My reading of muslim history is correct. This is an issue that played for a good long time. Reynould was at the heart of a lot of those goings on throughout the time of his participation in the events that transpired. Catholicism was innocent in all this, right. It all has to be painted as the whole Turkish world coming down on you guys, which couldn't be further from the truth. It did happen; but, not until ya'll decided that all muslims on earth were to blame and you just had to wipe them all out. When you did that, it was Custer and the Indians. The Indians won.

Things like the Papacy, - The Papacy was never settled and agreed upon by the whole Christian world or even his 'primacy' claims.

Peter being known as Cephas - This isn't in dispute and hasn't been. You're exaggerating.

, Peter in fact being referred to as the Rock - This is not even contested.

on whom the Church was built, - This has never been settled and agreed upon by the whole christian world either.

the legitimacy of certain books of the Bible - This has never been settled and agreed upon by the whole christian world either.

, The rest you just throw on for your pitty party as if to claim authority from the piling on.

Do you actually hear yourself or read this garbage as you put it out? It is garbage. If you want to sulk because I won't let you invent evidence or wont let Pegleg get by with quoting hot air and garbage that has nothing to do with his claims - If you want to sulk because you guys make claims and I ask you to prove them (and you can't), that's entirely your problem. Try taking a deep breath and dealing with facts and reality. They'll get you a lot further than what has been presented specifically in the last 3 threads by your side.
