I hear a lot of people complaining about the use of blockquote to prevent reply spoofs.

What is a reply spoof? I guess I'm not guilty of doing one since I don't know what it is.

What is a reply spoof?
Before (when the reply text wasn't indented as it is today) you could, within your own reply, fake a reply from someone else. Sort of like this:

Start of your post
A fake post
The rest of your post

Now it would look like this:

Start of your post
       A fake post
The rest of your post

.. and thus be easier to spot.
