Democrat Presidents all think alike, don't they?

The British played on our concerns about protecting our Southern flank while entangled in the war in Europe. The "Zimmerman Note," purportedly a secret German proposal to help Mexico recover the Southwest in the event of a war with America, is generally regarded as a forgery that was produced by the British.

I would not say "generally regarded" as a forgery. There was a new book on the affair recently (about 5 years ago) and it regarded the telegram as authentic. So does Kahn's "The Codebreakers." Your post is the first reference I've heard to it's being a forgery. (You might be right but I haven't seen any corroborating evidence.)
