US Embassy Building in Kabul Torched

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Gulf Arab Jazeera television network said on Wednesday Afghan demonstrators had set fire to the U.S. embassy building in Kabul.

The Qatar-based channel showed live pictures from the Afghan capital of smoke rising from what it said was a building that housed the U.S. embassy.

It said the fire had been started by demonstrators protesting against U.S. plans to launch an attack on the country in retaliation for the refusal of the ruling Taliban to hand over Osama bin Laden, top suspect in the September 11 attacks on targets in the United States.

Amazing, they all seem to have American Flags to burn and no one in my town can get a flag to fly at home!

What took them so long? They need to take lessons from the Iranians. Cripe, that embassy should have been toast right after the Tet Offensive, or some other imagined slight against Islam. The Taliban has obviously been preoccupied horsewhipping women or hacking off limbs of petty criminals. Or maybe relocating ...

The protesters burned an effigy of President Bush, ripped apart a U.S. flag and hurled stones at the gates and offices of the embassy before setting it alight. Several marchers and Taliban fighters were injured by stones.

This is a metaphor for their whole ugly campaign. Attack the United States for some pretended purpose, and end up injuring themselves in the process. Except the injuries in store for them are substantially more debilitating than a rock ding.

I guess they're having a problem with that new math.

These barbarians are having trouble with the OLD math! The few who still have all ten fingers have almost mastered it, but the numerous amputees are out of luck.

Just declare all of Afghanistan to be U.S. territory and they'll destroy the place for us.

Dang, that's a riot! If we wait long enough they'll be too crippled to fight.
