"Revenge is a dish, best served cold."

I have seen that statement more times in the last two weeks than I care to remember. Revenge for the wrongs committed is secondary. Our primary purpose must be to deter further attacks. Unfortunately, in psychological terms we have already failed at deterrance. Immediacy was imperative, you know, "stimulus-response." The window is long gone.
