You mean John Warner the former Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee's? The John Warner who's Naval Bases in his state were as open as a sieve and security so lax anyone could walk up pier side or from a small craft? That John Warner?

I think it's time to start cutting expenses for our Government officials. Hitlary's first day on the job, all she had to do is show up and vote herself a raise, never had to do one thing to earn that money. She gets top pay for doing nothing except posing a further threat to this country. Every year that get a raise, were paying for mistresses, whores, prostitutes and of course we pay for the hotel rooms, the dinners and their travels. It's time to cut back on wages and spending.

If we're going to close bases, let's start with the ones we don't need. We have, for example, 23 Army bases in Germany which, even after reunification, is smaller than Montana. In addition to the bases, we maintain schools for dependents, numerous health facilites, PXs, etc. The cost of travel and the shipment of household goods back and forth is astronomical.

In the event we ever have a large scale mobilization we'll need US facilities. We should be very careful not to reduce their number beyond the point necessary to support such an increase in troops and training facilities.

Ten years ago, before I retired from a defense contractor, I went on "Logistics Tours", i.e. tours sponsored by the Air Force to some of their depots and air bases. One of the bases that we toured was McClellan AFB in Sacramento. We were supposed to learn what the Air Force was doing at these bases and what problems they were encountering with their avionics - one of our specialities. Unfortunately, the very large contingent of civilian workers at McClellan had absolutely nothing to do. Our trip was a total waste.

You might remember McClellan. That was one of the bases "closed" under the last BRAC, but Clinton illegally overruled BRAC and kept it open. Then he "privatized" it.

The vote in the Senate shows definitively why we have to have an independent BRAC. Politicians don't really give a $hit about efficiency. They are interested in votes, even if they have to buy them by resisting the closure of a base in their district. In my opinion they should be scorned and thrown out - regardless of their party.

Every dime that we spend on an unneeded base takes away from real, needed defense.

We are going to war and closing military bases. Now that makes a lot of nonsense.

And we are such wussies we can't even declare war after the worst attack in American history. Really sad.

Good, more money for real defense, less for House District pork barrelling.

Why did the Twin Towers Fall? Ask not this question, ask why pork barrel defense appropriators closed Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn as an Air Force base years ago, but kept bases open in such crucial Homeland defense areas as the rural south and west.

Most military bases are like Farm subsidies and corporate handouts - Republican welfare payments.

**A House bill would call it off while requiring the Navy to keep using Vieques until an equivalent or better training site is found.**

Liberal protestors came out en masse to Vieques. They argued that America was racist for bombing an island populated by Latins, and for picking an area that had little democratic representation.

I have a better idea. Let's move those bombing exercises to an island that is populated by elitist whites that have more than their fair share of democratic representation.

Let's send the Navy to Martha's Vineyard.

Sen. John Warner, R-Va., the Senate Armed Services Committee's top Republican, read from a letter by Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, saying, ``The authority to eliminate excess infrastructure will be an important tool our forces will need to become more efficient and serve as better custodians of the taxpayers' money.''

Ahhh, yes. Of course. Spoken like the true weasel and scum-sucking human turd you really are. You are really outdoing yourself in your ass-kissing and backstabbing efforts to become a bureaucrat, ain't ya,Baby Hughie?

BTW,I think these base closings are a EXCELLENT idea! The land will always be available and cheap if we need it again,ESPECIALLY the land near the ocean on the east coast. I think we should close ALL US Navy bases except for the one at Norfolk,Va,and park every single ship the US Navy has there side by side. If we don't have room for them all,we should just decomission the ones we don't have room for and cut them up for scrap. Look at all the money we can save by having them all in one place!

While we are at it,why not have just one army base and one AF base? After all, they are just a drag on the taxpayers that prevents us from spending the money we need to spend on the "chil-run". It's not like we will ever need them again,or anything.Besides, with only one base each for the army, navy,af,and marines, just look at how easy they will be to defend! (sarcasm)

Having been through all of this before .... base closings mean neither a reduction of manpower nor do they mean a reduction of readiness. Instead of having necessary assets and commanders spread hither and yon (When's the last time you got to say 'hither and yon' by the way??) you can have them in closer touch and ready to rock more quickly ...

This initiative does nothing more than 'trim the fat' and get rid of a lot of redundant jobs taking care of the facilities ... keeping an unneeded or redundant facility open only means that politicans are wasting my money to keep some colleague happy ... pork barrell politics in the 60s through 80s created a ridiculous number of military facilities that have no real purpose other than to bring jobs to a congressional district as a political payoff.

This is another page in the selling out of America by men and women who have publicly flaunted their total disrespect for the oath of office demanded of them, and to which they declared.

Each of them will go to their grave with this indelible mark on their character, and they care not, as they are aligned with the every decadence imaginable.

The vast majority in the Congress of the United States are the greatest evil doers in America, and the world.

In it's silence the overwhelming majority of American Citizens blindly condone the rape of our God given rights by a treacherous and traitorous government, while giving our quite approval of, and financially underwriting of a world-wide campaign of pain and suffering to erect a world government that neither respects God or the fundamental bedrock of all societies - the family.

We must bear in mind the government is a mirror reflection of the will of the people who put it in place.

Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., meanwhile, said it was wrong to press for such upheavals ``when our reserves are being called up, our National Guard is being called up, our communities are being told, `Support our military.'''

Where the heck do they plan to house and train our military? I hope they know what they are doing.
