Don't the ancient texts delegate 616 instead of 666.

St. John obviously was referring to Caesar Nero when he wrote the Apocalypse. After all, that's how his name adds up in the Hebrew alphabet. In the LATIN alphabet, it adds up to 616 -- hence the variant reading in some mss.

St. John wrote of a time AFTER the gospel was preached to ALL nations. That didn't happen back in Nero's time.
