We have to develop friends in this region not just people who are terrified to confront us. While I might have left out the environmental rules etc. it is vital that we develop links that make Arabs think that Americans are good people who they can do business and make friendships with. Also, people become accustomed to certain aspects of trade. For example, food prices in Jordan will probably drop precipitously in the near future. They will probably be less willing to go to war if it resuts in a loss of their standard of living.

Excellent!!! Free markets and Capitalism will free the world from oppression. First they send us some cotton, we send them Rock n Roll. Soon they are demanding MTV, Disney, and AOL. NAFTA was too narrow, we need the WWFTA - World Wide Free trade agreement.

Straight-shootin', Vermonter.

Less willing to go to war or join a Jihad movement if there's things to lose, also. Works both ways.

Hell yes: Style the Jordanians up.

I agree with you entirely. I fail to see what the problem with this is. We are at war, and must get support from many different countries. This is a good way to shore up support for the coming military actions....
