Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation

Ummm...this is incorrect, and one of the problems with translations outside of the KJV.

The verse states "4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?" It's the PROMISE that is being questioned, not his coming. The scoffers mentioned in the earlier verse, believe in creation, say their fathers are 'asleep'(not dead), in short, they believe PARTS of the Bible, but not all. The scoffers question where the PROMISE is, in the Bible.

It's the PROMISE that is being questioned, not his coming.

100% agreed - I was focused on the scoffer part, and should have used a better translation. Thanks.
