I'm afraid - please don't remove this post
Posted on 09/24/2001 11:11:46 AM PDT by Scythian
I am a Christian but I am still afraid, especially for my young children. I know that it is difficult to find the US in biblical prophecy, especially in the end times. Could it be that we simply don't exist? I fear that is the answer.
Maybe the beast that rises out of the sea in revelation is not the UN but Terrorism, different from the others beasts is it not? There is no way the US can protect itself from biological, chemical or nuclear weapons, we haven't the will to fight political correctness and evict our enemies.
As terrible as this sounds, I'm afraid, I mean really afraid, it's effecting my ability to concentrate and work. Forgive me for posting this.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I've noticed that the CHURCHES have been in the vanguard of those forces that have promoted massive immigration, while being particularly eager to scream "RACIST" in the face of anyone who has dared to object.
Perhaps the churches are truly reaping what they have sown?

Relax, seriously. Don't let fear run your life like you're indicating it is. Have a drink and settle down a tad. Everything will work out fine.

If you read your Bible closely, you'll see that we will not know when the world will end until it is here. If Christ would not reveal the exact time to His apostles, none of us are going to be able to predict it.
Stop worrying. Work hard and praise God. We're believers, not soothsayers.

If you're a Christian, you should heed the angels' "Fear Not!"

Could it be that we simply don't exist? Pinch yourself; then get on with living in a real world.

If you are a government "spook" as your profile notes, people like you are a prime reason of why we have been attacked by these terrorists!
One of my best friends is a retired CIA spook, and he is in agony to what has happened to the agency the past 8 years with the infiltration of do gooders, left wingers and just plain 5th columnists along with the Clintoons and clymers like the Torch defanging the agency's human intel resources!

The people (churches) who put all these fears into your head were using the fears to control you. Even now their control over you is obvious. Relax. Focus on other things like love and family and a good book (not THE good book, but a book that promotes love and life). Stop trying to predict the future. No one can. Not Falwell, nor Robertson, nore Copeland. They sell fear, not knowledge.
Do you really think your God wants to destroy the largest bastion of Christianity? Do you think he would favor terrorists? What a religion!
To: Soliton
Well, I'm pretty scared too. I live alone and my family lives several hours away. Buy a gun, buy some ammo, made me feel better. Even if I do'nt have to use it.But I also beleive in my country and it's resources to protect me.Now more, than before 911. I believe they will do everything in their power to get rid of the terrorist at home. Now they have a TARGET to unleash their agression on instead of us citizens.

Matt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
To: Grampa Dave
So far not too many seem to be worried like I am. I'm suprized given our inability to protect ourselves domestically.

I understand your fear Scythian. I have thought about this and tried to think rationally. Here is what I have come up with.
We never know when it is our time to die. I can worry about crop dusters or car bombs or planes falling out of the sky but you know what, while I am worrying about that, I could get run over by a truck or have a heart attack or develop cancer.
While I am worrying about all these things I am not living the life God has given me to live. As Christians we are here to help others to encourage others to share our faith. How can you do that while worrying about what will happen next.
Doesn't our Lord tell us that worrying will not add one second to our lives, that he cares for us more than the lillies of the field, he knows when the sparrow falls.
Remember these things God has taught us and carry on. We cannot let evil stop us from living the life God intended us to live, and I don't believe he intended us to live in fear of evil, but in prayer against it.
God speed and take care.

You don't have time to be afraid. Whenever you find yourself being afraid that is the beast tempting you and placing doubt in your mind and of course you know what to do. PRAY! Prayer will give you strength and replace fear with hope and faith in God who will protect us all from the beast. Remember we have nothing to fear but fear itself. Semper Fidelis, Mike

In the words of the great 20th Century philosopher Joycelyn Elders, "We're all probably gonna die of something."
Prepare yourself for the next life and this one will take care of itself.
To: Scythian
You must not ever forget that God is always in control, even when it seems darkest. Keep your focus where the President's is--cleaning out the terrorists. We're going to be fine.

More likely we are just not relevant to the audience those revelations were directed at. Imagine nearly 1500 years of confusion over "new lands" such a thing could have torn the early Church apart. Not every detail needed to be included for the shepards and farmers of 2000 years ago...

Here are a few other things I haven't seen in Bible prophesy:
FreeRepublic
McDonald's
Nascar
Diet Coke
Chicago Cubs
Canada
Ford Mustangs
Jerry Falwell
Marc Antony
Venezuela
I could go on, but it would take a while.

Fear is absolutely self-destructive at a time like this. Put your bible away and DO something constructive to help this country...........and that would include being BETTER at whatever job you have....that's exactly what bin Laden does not want: a strengthening of our power due to his attack. What DOES bin Laden want? The kind of cowering, wimpering statement you made, complete with incomplete Bible.
