He is unemployed!

Mr. Elkins....In case you don't know, we are being attacked by a furious enemy who has forced us to defend ourselves. The rules have to change a bit so you can, in the future, have the luxury of continuing to yap, yap and yap.

No, we should not have gotten involved in WWI.---ADA Coddington

That says it all IMHO. This article is Berkeley California material. Defended by those of the same flavor.

I welcome Nuke'm Glowing opinions. His were based on a love of this nation, unlike the others, usually libertarian.

To return to seriousness, after that silly little episode. Last night there was a post of an article entitled: "The Bush speech to America: A critical analysis", by one Joel Skousen. That post and the associated thread has disappeared from the site. I am very curious as to what happened and why.

In seeking warriors for the front line of Internet censorship, Ridge needs look no farther than FreeRepublic.com. The atmosphere there is now poisonous.

Geez...if he thinks it's "poisonous" here, he ought to check out some of the newsgroups on Usenet and see what they are saying. FR is nearly tame in comparison.

Elkins is a run-of-the-mill leftist whose literary skills belie his claim to be a writer.

Anybody can find an outrageous post or two in this forum or any other open forum. And just as Internet users are increasingly aware, they mean absolutely nothing about either the general ambiance of the forum cited or the strength or weakness of the question under discussion.

The Left is frantically angling for some defensible way to allow Osama bin Laden off the hook for murdering thousands of Americans on American soil. Elkins is simply running his contribution to that effort (risibly, Wilson and WWI) up the flagpole to see if anybody salutes.

If Bush was serious about winning this war, he would appoint Buchanan Immigration Czar. This man is 100% right on in this article. Perhaps the nation will finally grow up and put Buchanan in a position of power where he can help us reclaim our own border-God knows Bush can't and won't. 1 Posted on 09/19/2001 21:24:27 PDT by Kobyashi1942 [ Reply | Private Reply | Top | Last ]

The above post on another thread made me mad...I said I felt like hitting the abuse button(This is mindless Bush Bashing in my book)and asked if anyone else thought the same....boy did I catch flak...does anyone agree that this statement in the middle of a crises should not stand? I must note I did not hit the abuse button as I rarely do...

Odd that this opinion would be posted on Free Republic, eh? Once again, it may behoove us ALL to realize that THIS IS NOT THE PUBLIC MARKETPLACE!!!! It is a private website, open by invitation only, and ruled however the webmaster (and the guy who pays the bills) sees fit. This ain't the airwaves, or the front page of your cat box liner. It is Jim Robinson's website, and he can "censor" any damned thing he takes a mind to! Is that so hard to understand????

He owes YOU exactly bupkus, Mr. Elkins.

All we are saying, is "Give War A Chance."

Mr. Elkins seems to forget that we are beating the drums for war as a way to rid ourselves of the threat of terrorism so that we can regain our freedoms. We have five choices:

1. We can convert to fundamentalist Islam and become slaves of the Arabs. This action will win us neither security, peace, nor prosperity.

2. We can try to appease the terrorists with lesser measures of support for their goals and greater restrictions on our own freedoms. This action will not stop them from committing more acts of war against us. Again, we will lose freedom, security, peace, and prosperity.

3. We can refuse to appease the terrorists but give up our freedoms to try to prevent their attacks. This course of action will be no better than the second one.

4. We can continue as before as if the terrorists hadn't just killed thousands of Americans. This course of action will only lead to more attacks until we choose one of the other four.

5. We can accept a few restrictions and make a few sacrifices during the course of a war against our attackers. Eventually, we will be able to exterminate them and force the rest to end their actions against us. This course of action can lead to the most security, peace, freedom, and prosperity.

The Office of Homeland Security scares me as well. I will be a loud voice for winning this war and abolishing the departments that were needed to fight it. However, Mr. Elkins's attack is unjustified.

I have decided that all this trash is meant to destabalize our country. The russians and chinese do it all the time. Some of our people believe these statements because there is always just enough truth to make them nod and agree to the authors conclusions. This is the same way that conspiracy theorists get there message across...Damned if I'll give it the time of day...Bite me....

the keyboard warriors

Is Elkins referring to himself here? Unless he's one of the ones going to put their life on the line, to risk extreme danger and possibly to die for our freedoms and for this country, he has no room at all to call anyone else a "keyboard warrior". It's all he himself is. Some people type all day about freedom but some people die for them.
